Obligatory Ron Washington Blow Post

wash_fwstel.JPGBy now, most of you have probably read the news that Rangers manager Ron Washington has admitted to doing some blow during the 2009 season, done the “I’m very sorry” thang, and has Nolan & co “standing behind him” on the issue.

Which is fine with me, your friendly neighborhood Rangers blogster because honestly, I don’t give a flip what Ron or anyone else does in their spare time.  As long as Ron isn’t coked up during game time, I don’t give a shiite, it’s no different than him getting drunk on his own time vs. being drunk in the dugout.

That’s all I really have to say on the matter…I’ll spare your my libertarian rant on the miserable failure known as the “War on Drugs”.

Greg – Washington is a human being just like the rest of us. Like I said above, I have no problem with what he does in his personal life, the only thing stupid, IMHO, is when guys like him jeopardize their careers, careers that shmucks like you and me can only dream of, knowing full well they will probably get caught. Hamilton is a delusional Christian, so I’d bet the farm that he’s thinking that this is yet another “test” being administered by his capricious, imaginary friend in the sky.

It’s only a test for Joshy until he decides its time to buy the bar another round and do lemon drops off hot chicks’ breasts…. sorry, had to get that out there.
As for Ron and you assessment, Jonestein, I wholeheartedly agree… except, the way I understood Ron’s statement, he’s saying he only did coke ONE time. ONCE. EVER. Come on, Ron. I’m not that effing stupid dude. Please. Spare me the lies… I could care less.

Jeff – Oh, I agree 100% about the first time BS, what a crock. But again, this is no frickin biggie to me.

The latest news is that some fktard ex-employee that got terminated last fall has been blackmailing the club since last July. Nolan and Co. finally told him to fk off and he leaked the story. I hope the Rangers retaliate by leaking this guy’s name to the press…he’ll never work for another pro sports organization again…fking a$shole. Being a whistle-blower is one thing, but blackmailing is just chicken-sh!t.

I don’t get it, why the big hullabaloo on this… is Ron on crack gonna make the team win more…. naaaaaaaaa…. are people thinkin he’s tryin to deal to players….. maybe, but he’s not that stupid…. now if this is an issue how come no-one hounding McGuire about maybe advising and assisting Holiday and Pujols the way he managed to hit better….. and I’m with you… leak the frikin story don’t hide in the shadows and be even more illicit than the story you’ve got in hand….

What is kind of wild is that this is his last contract year with the Rangers, and maybe Ryan will use this as a secondary reason ( besides the team’s record) to look outside the organization for another Manager for 2011.
For some weird idea Bobby Valetine’s name will probably get popped into this whole bowl of chili within the next few months.
If it was not for an extortionist trying to levy financial gain, would we have ever heard more than a paragraph or two about this whispered outside the Rangers organization….We would have….But I have a feeling now Washington and Hamilton will both see just how easy it is for anyone…anywhere to step across the line….and maybe pay the ultimate price of watching or playing games from their special vantage points.

Ditto…don’t care. That kinda stuff jaded me back in the 70s and 80s. At this point I don’t really care. If the Mayans are right about 2010 it won’t matter anyway. G’head Ron…toot up! Just not before or during a game. If I am intersted in this story it only goes as far as to how N.Ryan handles things. The onus is on Ryan not Washington. If Ryan says Ron can stay…that’s good enough for me.
