Leeless in Arlington

leephilsy.jpg “I feel like a spurned lover.”  This is pretty much the consensus feeling in Rangerdom right now.  Me, I’m not quite sure which stage o’ grief I’m in right now, probably irrational anger as I look at the picture to your right.

Despite all of the “fun” Cliff claims to have had here in his short tenure, despite the alleged friendships that were cultivated, in the end, it just feels like he’s told us “Sorry Texas Rangers, you just aren’t good enough.”  This of course, makes me angry.

However, as I ride this roller coaster of fandom emotions today, at points I’m also finding myself a little relieved.  Truth be told, I was never comfortable with the $$$ and contract lengths being thrown around, given Lee’s age.  I figured we’d get at most, three really good years out of him before the inevitable decline.

Anyway, I’m sure as hell glad the Rangers aren’t in the NL East, that Philly starting four looks freaking incredible.  Kudos to their Ninja GM for pulling off this last second swipe under everyone’s noses.

Oh, and on the bright-side, at least he isn’t a MF Yankee.

Le Sigh.

Sad to see that Lee decided to take the uptown girl instead of the farmer’s daughter to the big dance.
It was not shocking that Philly was the mystery team. always felt they were in the rafters watching the process after Werth decided to play his own “Mr. Werth Goes to Washington” film moment.
The good news is that Lee spurned the glamor and nightlife of the Big Apple and decided he was a NL-type of guy for the next 5 years.
If it is any consolation, since I have the same first name…I would have picked the farmer’s daughter. At least in Texas people complain to your face .
Hear your team might go after Rafael Soriano now and make Feliz a starter again…..Sounds like a solid move ( if true).

It was sometime ago I jumped on a comment from Todd Zolecki, who said the Phillies ‘tongue in cheek’ would try and court Cliff Lee back to Philadelphia, I had made a couple of references to that over the last few months, but mostly wishful thinking….
hopefully the Phillies don’t let some thrown together misfit team snatch the prize away….
The Rangers will have to look for some NEW HOPE during the off-season to keep them as the top dog in the AL West…

Cliff Lee definitely helped the Rangers, but you guys were tough this season before he came on board. It sounds like most of the core pre-Lee team is coming back for 2011. I think the Rangers without Lee are going to defend that AL West title in 2011 hardcore. I just hope my guys give them more of a run for their money this time…not that things are exactly off to a blazing start in Anaheim this offseason.

Well the good thing about it all is you got a pitcher itching to prove critics and his old team they were wrong headed to Arlington for 2011.
I think for a one year deal, getting Brandon Webb might be a nice addition without the tremendous basketload of cash leaving the Rangers coffers.
Still too early to know for sure, but it might end up being the right movein the long run…Still think that small Lee injury in 2010 while he was in Seattle is a precursor to a bigger problem. I guess Philly will live and die by that decision for a long time.
